Albion College Jazz Ensemble
Swings 2006 at Relli’s Tonight \ALBION, Mich. — “It don’t mean a thing unless it ain’t got that swing!” A popular hit from 1932 by Duke Ellington is swings tonight by the Albion College Jazz Ensemble, as they perform in downtown Albion, at Cascarelli’s restaurant, beginning 9 p.m. The concert for January 20 features tunes and styles from the Swing Era, including timeless favorites by Glen Miller, Count Basie, and Benny Goodman. The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of music professor James Ball, plays every third Friday of the month in downtown Albion. First-year member David Goodrich remarks, “It’s fun playing in the band because of the amount of energy you get from everyone playing and everyone there. It’s great how the college comes out to support us, because we get to have a lot of fun.” This concert is free and the public is invited to attend.
