The concert, in honor of Women’s History Month, features original choral works by women composers such as Lydia Adams, Eleanor Daly, and Ruth Watson Henderson as well as an arranged piece by Barbara Baker. All but one of the composers featured in the program are still living; the only exception is Hildegard von Bingen, the earliest known female composer. The choir will perform her piece O virtus sapientiae (O Strength of Wisdom), which speaks of the creative power of wisdom, seen by von Bingen as the feminine form of the creator which encircles and embraces all creation.
