ALBION, Mich. – In celebration of Best Buddies month, the Albion College chapter of Best Buddies is having a raffle and bake sale on Tuesday, March 28, and Wednesday, March 29. Proceeds will support the Best Buddies mission of improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing assistance for Albion Best Buddies events such as dances, game nights, and bowling.

The bake sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day in the Kellogg Center and Lower Baldwin Hall. Featured will be a variety of treats made by Albion College students and their community Buddies. Raffle tickets may be purchased at this time or from members of the group by contacting Best Buddies president Sara West at (517) 629-1051 or smw10@albion.edu. Winners of the raffle will receive gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants.

“Best Buddies is a unique program on campus, in that we match community members with intellectual disabilities in one-to-one friendships with college students,” explained West. “We have group events once a month, and decided to hold a fundraiser this year to raise awareness about our program on campus and in the community.”

West continued, “Best Buddies is an international program which has helped people with disabilities become more integrated in mainstream society, but there is still a long way to go! Our program at Albion has become stronger throughout the years, and the fundraiser will help support the success of our future events.”
