Albion College Faculty Present Chamber Concert for Flute and Piano
Monday, April 17, 2006

Reported by Sarah Keyes, ’09

ALBION, Mich. —  A night of classics and contemporary chamber music performed by two extraordinary Albion College faculty members, Michelle Beaton and Tess Miller, will be presented on Wedmesdau. April 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the College’s Goodrich Chapel. This exciting program will include traditional and modern chamber pieces for flute and piano.

The performance will feature several great pieces including Sonata No. 2 in E-flat Major by Johann Sebastian Bach, Sicilienne et Burlesque by Alfredo Casella, and Sonata in D Major by Sergei Prokofiev. Also on the program is an interesting piece by one of the U.K.’s most innovative flautists, Ian Clark, called Zoom Tube.

“President Peter Mitchell coined the phrase ‘Liberal Arts at work’, while we consider ourselves ‘liberal artists at play,’” said accompanist and piano instructor Michelle Beaton. Beaton and Miller intend to reprise this program this summer in both Ann Arbor and Mackinac Island.

This concert is free and the public is invited to attend.  For more information, contact the Albion College Music department, 517-629-0481.
