Marine Biology Class Samples Seaweed Friday, February 6, 2004 Biology professor Jeffrey Carrier treated
students in his Marine Biology class to an unusual breakfast yes Carrier says this palate-stretching exercise underscores the importance of marine research and study. "The students all say they've never eaten seaweed before, "explains Carrier, "and then I point that that a lot of foods, including ice cream, are made with ingredients from seaweed."

While fresh seaweed
was an exotic dish for most students, Carrier also served a more
common form of seaweed -- as a standard ingredient in commercial ice
cream. |
