Held Equestrian Center
A 340-acre classroom experience. With leather seats.
The Nancy G. Held Equestrian Center opened at Albion College in 2004, quickly becoming a home to every Albion student interested in horses or riding. We offer something for everyone, from beginners to experienced competitors. And our instructors can expand your riding—and your thinking—at any level. Ultimately, we want you to understand how the fundamentals of good riding can apply to any discipline. Then we teach you the kind of grace and control that leads to success as a rider.
You can compete, too, if you like. We have three intercollegiate riding teams that compete in hunt seat, western, and dressage as part of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA).
You can also compete outside of intercollegiate equestrian shows in all disciplines, including hunters, jumpers, western, dressage, eventing, and saddle seat.
And whether you join a team or not, you can bring your horse to college—or develop a relationship with one (or many) of ours. (They’re the ones named after towns in Michigan.)
Take some lessons, join the Equestrian Club, or simply bring your horse to college with you. Your classroom experience just got bigger.
