Held Equestrian Center
A 340-acre classroom experience...with leather seats.
The Nancy G. Held Equestrian Center opened at Albion College in 2004, quickly becoming a home to every Albion College student interested in horses or riding. We offer something for everyone, from beginners to experienced competitors. Our instructors can expand your riding, your thinking, and your equestrian success at any level. Ultimately, we want you to understand how the fundamentals of good riding can apply to any discipline. Then we teach you the kind of grace and control that leads to success, both at the equestrian center and in the real world. Albion is perfect for you if you want to bring your horse to college and thrive in a truly supportive college equestrian environment. If you are looking for a top-notch liberal arts college with an equestrian program, you've come to the right place!
We have three intercollegiate riding teams that compete in hunt seat, western, and dressage as part of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA). Almost all fees and expenses are covered by Albion College, so expenses to the student are minimal. That, among many other unique features, sets us apart from any other college with an equestrian program.
You can also compete outside of intercollegiate equestrian shows in all disciplines, including hunters, jumpers, western, dressage, eventing, and saddle seat.
Whether you join a team or not, you can bring your horse to college—or develop a relationship with one (or many) of our talented college-owned horses.
