Come participate in this dynamic networking event that seeks to connect you with other Britons in the Chicago area to advance your career and/or assist in advancing theirs. A panel of three accomplished Albion College alumni will share how their career paths have been shaped and how they were able to utilize contacts along the way.
Hors d'oeuvres provided; cash bar - $15 ($5 is a tax-deductible gift to the Albion College Annual Fund)
There will be a period for open discussion as well as plenty of time to mingle and network. Bring plenty of business cards. Professional attire preferred.

Jim Anderson, '83

Jim Anderson, '83, has over 25 years of experience in developing award-winning strategic marketing plans for regional, luxury and outlet shopping centers. He has held executive positions with several of the shopping center industry's top developers and management companies, including General Growth Properties and Simon Property Group. He has provided marketing direction for shopping centers throughout the United States, including Hawaii. Currently he is Director of Marketing for AWE Talisman Companies, a Florida-based developer, that recently opened the new Fashion Outlets of Chicago, near O'Hare International Airport. Based in Chicago, Jim has also served as an alumni volunteer for Albion College by chairing the Chicago Alumni Chapter and serving as president of the Albion chapter's alumni association of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
Austin Baidas, '92

Austin Baidas is a Chicago-based business executive with extensive experience in both manufacturing and technology and has a strong background in public policy and political activism. In 1992, Austin graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Management from the Gerstacker Institute at Albion College and then began his career as an Assistant Credit Officer at NBD Bank (now part of JPMorgan Chase) in Detroit. Austin served as CEO of TriMatrix Laboratories, Inc., an environmental testing laboratory in Grand Rapids, Mich., currently ranked among the highest-quality laboratories in the United States. Austin has served in varying executive positions, including CEO and Chairman, at Four Seasons Housing, a modular home builder, and as vice president of General RV Center, a family-owned recreational vehicle dealership. Austin worked to promote the factory-built housing industry nationwide by lobbying at the federal level to adopt uniform laws around the production of safe, affordable manufactured homes. In 2009-10, Austin was a key member of Governor Pat Quinn's political staff, helping lead the campaign to an electoral win. He was also responsible for statewide Outreach to Progressive Groups including the pro-choice and LGBTQ communities. In 2011, Austin was appointed to serve as the Associate Director of the Governor's Office of Management and Budget where he worked with the Governor to balance the budget, make the full pension payment, and pay down the unpaid bills.
Eileen Smith, '86

During Eileen Smith's time as a student in Albion College's Gerstacker program, she secured an internship at the Chicago Board Options Exchange and returned as an employee in 1986 after graduation. Smith started her career in the Research Department as a Research Analyst. Throughout her 28 years with the CBOE, she has been promoted several times: making Director of Product Development 1992; Director of Research in 1996 to Director, Research; in 2000 she moved into the Systems Division as a Director, Systems Planning; took over the department in 2007 and was made a Department Head in 2007. Most recently, Smith was promoted to her current position as Vice President of Systems Planning in 2012.
