Friday, March 01, 2013
A look at women – victims and lawyers – working for justice in Cameroon is the subject of Sisters in Law, a documentary that will be shown Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. in Albion College's Bobbitt Visual Arts Center.
The feature-length documentary portrays aspects of women's lives and workings of the judicial system in the West African country of Cameroon. Fascinating, often hilarious, the film follows the work of state prosecutor Vera Ngassa and court president Beatrice Ntuba as they help women fight difficult cases of abuse, despite pressures from family and the community to remain quiet.
