The Education Department at Albion College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor, teacher education, beginning August 2013. The department's mission is to integrate the strengths of the liberal arts with the pedagogy teachers need for working with children in diverse K-12 classrooms. Candidates need to be grounded in public school practice and research, and have a sound knowledge of social issues in education.
Minimum qualifications include a master's degree; a strong background in new literacies and/or social studies education; a commitment to undergraduate teaching; an interest and/or experience in course and program development; and a desire to support and maintain collaborative partnerships with K-12 schools. Preferred qualifications include an earned doctorate in education (or ABD) and teaching experience in both higher education and K-12 schools with diverse populations. The department is committed to creating an environment supportive of faculty and students of color.
